'Crete' is a well intentioned attempt at creating seating piece using a cantilevered form made from 2in thick concrete. In the end the project was not a complete success, but was a great lesson learned on the process of using concrete building material.
When pulled from the mold, the concrete had many air and moisture pockets.
Unfortunately, the final piece did not survive being pulled out of the mold. The sheer weight began to crack over the reinforcements within the poured concrete.
Subsequently, in order to salvage the material for a seating piece, the form was cut into 2 separate concrete pieces.
The final product wasn't as grand as the cantilever idea, however it still served the purpose of concrete seating. I intend to try this project again, now that I have more knowledge of concrete material.
